How do I have a streetlight installed?
Put your request in writing and address it to the Development Services Department located at:
5200 Civic Center Drive
Waterford, MI 48329
Please indicate the main crossroads and/or name of your development. The Township requests Detroit Edison to study the area and report back their findings as far as what type of light, how many lights, and what wattage would best suit the area. If there is an installation costs, this cost must be absorbed by the requesting party (or community group/association members.)
A certified check payable to Detroit Edison for the installation fee must be sent to the Township at which time Development Services will request Edison to schedule the installation of the light(s) pursuant to the Road Commission for Oakland County restrictions. It may be necessary to establish a Special Assessment District for the payment of the annual fees for the lighting. This assessment is prepared by the Head Assessor and will appear on your property tax bill. For more information, please call 248-674-6238.
