[ARCHIVED] Recreational Fires Temporary Restriction Lifted

Campfire_4213.jpg

At this time we have determined that we are able to lift the ban on recreational fires in the Township. The rain fall was significant enough to reduce the risk of fire. Please still use extreme caution while having a recreational fire. Please have a water supply handy, do not leave the fire unattended and extinguish when finished.

You must have a recreational burn permit to have a fire in Waterford. They are issued at Fire Department Headquarters. Monday – Friday 8am to 4pm.

Open burning is already illegal in Waterford.

Fireworks

Consumer grade fireworks are a major concern for a great many Waterford residents.

These fireworks are illegal to discharge in Waterford on any day accept the day before, the day of, and the day after a national holiday, per local ordinance.

Further, per local ordinance the time restrictions are 8am to 12am on those 3 days. The only exception to the time restriction is New Years Day, which is 8am to 1am.

Please exercise caution while lighting Consumer Grade fireworks.

Respectfully,

Deputy Fire Chief Matthew Covey
