In addition to the features you love about our current catalog, the new system will offer easier searching, more relevant results, a kids catalog, innovative account features, and a new mobile catalog.
In order to complete the upgrade, the Library will be closed Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 28 to allow for millions of records (both patron and material) to be transferred successfully. (Also closed Friday as we normally are).
Over the long weekend, starting at 6pm on Friday, May 25, our current catalog will be unavailable and you will not be able to access your account, renew materials, or search the catalog. Be assured, no materials will be due during the closure, and downloadable content (like Hoopla, Download Destination, and RBDigital) will still be accessible.
Your library card and your account, including all of your current holds and checkouts, will transfer to the new system.
Key points that may impact you:
After May 29th, library PINs must be composed of four to six numbers (no letters). Any patrons who currently have a PIN that contains letters or is larger than six numbers will have their PIN changed to the last four digits of their phone number.
MeLCat interlibrary loan service was suspended on April 1, 2018 with a tentative resume date of September 4, 2018 (so our new system can be completely configured to work with the MelCat system).
If you had notifications by text message set up for yourself in the old system, that will not carry over. You will need to set that up in your account in the new system. Librarians will be happy to help you with that.
Items on the hold pick-up shelves will be kept there for seven days (not ten). This will help the hold lists for in-demand items move along a little faster.
Thank you for your cooperation as we get ready for our new system. We expect it to be a great improvement for our Library and for YOU!
