Candidates Sought for Library Advisory Committee

The Library Advisory Committee members are appointed by the Township Board of Trustees. Each serves a term of 3 years, limited to 2 consecutive terms. Committee members are not paid to serve. A member of the Township Board of Trustees serves as liaison to the Library Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Library's Conference Room, January through June and August through October.

The goal of the Library Advisory Committee is to provide the best possible library service to the citizens of the community. The Advisory Committee does this through review with the Library Director of current library operations and proposed service development as well as through advocacy support with state and federal legislators. The Advisory Committee may also make policy recommendations to the township Committee of trustees.

There are also 8 mini-branch collections managed by the Library’s Outreach Services staff in the senior housing complexes in the community.

These computers provide access to the Internet, database searching, word processing applications and educational software for children. The library has a staff of full-time master-prepared librarians providing reference and reader’s advisory service and support staff who excel at customer service. The library maintains a website offering remote access to our online catalog of holdings, informational databases that include full-text of magazine articles, downloadable eContent, and a menu of programs offered at the Library which include story times for children ages 0-5.

Applicants interested in serving on Boards, Committees and Commissions should complete the application on the Township’s website: https://www.waterfordmi.gov/257/Boards-Commissions and submit it along with a letter of interest and a resume to Gary Wall, Township Supervisor by December 15, 2020.
