In-Person Voting at the Precincts Tuesday, November 3rd

The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Your polling location will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for in-person voting.
To locate your voting precinct and verify that you're registered to vote, visit www.waterfordmi.gov/elections

Absentee Ballots

Please return all absentee ballots to the Clerk's office as soon as possible. Absentee ballots must be returned by 8:00 PM on election day, Tuesday, November 3rd. COVID relief microgrant for residents

COVID-19 Relief $500 Microgrants for Oakland County Residents
Oakland County and United Way for Southeastern Michigan announce the Oakland Together COVID Relief Individual Microgrant Initiative. Eligible residents can apply for a $500 microgrant to cover expenses or gaps in income resulting from COVID-19.


GFL - Yard Waste, Snowbirds, & Holiday Schedule

Waterford Township Residential GFL Customers receive curbside collection of an unlimited number of bags/cans through the second week of December each year under our contract. The week of December 7-11 will be the last week to place yard waste at the curb for collection by GFL. Simply place your yard waste at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your regular collection day that week, and that will be you last pickup of the season. See the graphic below for more information.

GFL observes Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day as official holidays for their employees. Please remember that if a holiday falls on a weekday, your scheduled service day will be delayed by one day and does inlcude Saturday collection in these cases. Regular collection will resume the following week.

For the 2020 holidays, GFL customers whose regular collection day falls on Thanksgiving Thursday, November 26th will instead receive collection on Friday, November 27th. GFL customers whose regular collection day falls on Friday, November 27th will instead receive their collection on Saturday, November 28th.
GFL customers whose regular collection day falls on Friday, December 25th will instead receive collection on Saturday, December 26th.

Monthly Recycling- November 14


Waterford Township offers free monthly recycling collection of magazines and cardboard (shipping boxes, cereal boxes, toothpaste boxes, etc, free of food debris and dry.)

This service is provided the second Saturday of every month from 9am to 1pm in the parking lot at Township Hall.

Waterford residents only, please.

Residents are also encouraged to practice social distancing and wear masks for their own protection, and for the protection of the workers and other residents.

SNOWBIRDS - DON'T FORGET!


Assessing: Attention all “Snowbirds”!  Please contact the Waterford Assessing Department with your forwarding address if you are leaving town for the winter. 

Even though you may have your mail forwarded by the U.S. Post Office, property tax bills and assessments notices are not forwarded and are returned to the Township.

Please call 248-674-6270 to let us know your Winter address.

DPW: Attention Snowbirds! Please contact Waterford DPW at 248-674-2278 to schedule to have water turned off to your home before you leave for the winter. Appointments for turn off are scheduled for an exact date and time for a technician to come out.
 
Turning the water off at the road is a safeguard against frozen pipes and will save you money as billing is suspended while the water is off. A $30 turn off charge is assessed and a $30 turn on charge will be assessed when water is turned back on in the spring.

Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce Launches 2020 Support Local Initiative - SUPPORT LOCAL, WIN PRIZES!


The Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce has officially launched its SUPPORT LOCAL CAMPAIGN! This campaign is community wide. Please let your friends, neighbors and family know. Eligible purchases will be submitted via text or email for a chance to win a Visa gift card valued at $250. You can visit the chamber website for a complete list of “Official Rules”. Here are some general guidelines:

• Purchases must be made from a Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce member in good standing
• Purchases include all products, services, retail and restaurants
• Purchases must be made between 12:01 a.m. November 1 through 11:59 p.m. on November 30, 2020
• Photos of receipts can be submitted via text at (248) 330-3871 or email to info@waterfordchamber.org
• Receipt photo must include date of purchase and name of business, as well as the entrant’s name.
• If it is a local service or organization and you cannot purchase products or services, submit a photo of you at
the location on Instagram or FB during the time frame and you will be entered into the drawing. Be sure to tag the
Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce in your post.

Library Collections Open for Browsing

Now in Phase 4 of our reopening plan, Grab & Go service. Capacity limit: 70. Collections open for browsing.  Patrons are asked to visit quickly & efficiently (30 minutes or less, excepting computer users). Study rooms, meeting rooms and study tables NOT available at this time.

  • Service hours: 10:00a–10:30a, Monday through Thursday – Vulnerable Visitors, e.g. age 60+, pregnant women, and those with chronic health conditions. 10:30a-9:00p, Monday through Thursday & 10:00a-5:00p, Saturday – General Public.
  • Masks must be worn, bridge of nose to chin, at all times during your visit.
  • Social distancing and safety guidelines will be followed.
  • Public access computers. Session – 45 minutes, maximum 90 minutes/day. Appointments recommended. Printing: Limit of 10 pages, no charge. NOTE: All computers are fully self-service at this time. Due to social distancing requirements, staff are NOT able to provide any form of hands-on computer assistance.
  • The exterior book returns are open. Returned materials are quarantined for 96 hours before discharge from your account. Overdue fines are suspended until further notice.

Mondays-Thursdays 11:00a

Join on Facebook for our Ready Reads story time.  The children's librarians are reading a story or two, sometimes with a song or other fun activity.  Story readings will be on Facebook for a limited time, but we're posting something new every weekday.
Storytimes-in-a-Bag
Until we can have weekly storytimes, why not take a storytime home with you? Each bag has library books, songs, toys, and/or activities geared toward specific ages groups (Babies-Pre-K). They are worked around themes, just like our in-person storytimes. Books and toys must be returned, but the songs and activities are yours to keep. Call us at (248) 674-4831 to request a bag. NOTE: When the bags are returned all items are quarantined for 4 days/96 hours and cleaned before going back into circulation.
1,000 Books before Kindergarten
For children, infant to 5 years. We are a participating library in this early literacy program. You can participate online using phone apps for either iPhone or Android. Search under 1000 Books before Kindergarten. Read to your young child. For every 100 books that you read together, we will put your child’s name on our “Wall of Fame.” Plus, your child can pick out a book to keep. Reach the 1,000-book milestone and get a book bag.

Are you looking for help with homework? Do you need assistance preparing for the SAT, ACT, or other tests?  Do you or your parents have questions about filling out the FAFSA application?  The library now has Brainfuse’s HelpNow FREE online tutoring service that Waterford cardholders can use for these and other situations where tutors can help.  All you need is a Waterford library card to begin getting the assistance you’re looking for with homework, writing assistance, standardized tests, college preparation, and more.

Anyone who wants to help this year we are only able to accept cash or gift card donations. If choosing git cards please make them in smaller amounts so we can share with more families.
