Department of Public Works News Office Operations Interruption: Sept. 21st & 22nd Due to a necessary system upgrade DPW billing software will be unavailable September 21st and 22nd, 2021. During this time, our staff will have limited access to water and sewer account information and our online account viewing and payment portal will be unavailable.
Payments can still be made in our office during this time but require customers to have their bill with them as our staff will not be able to look up account information including current balance. For residents moving or selling a house, water status requests or final bills can still be requested during the system upgrade, but status requests and bills will not be issued until the upgrade has been completed. This system upgrade WILL NOT affect the water service to your property, it is simply a software upgrade affecting the billing and accounting system. Residents will still be able to use water as they normally would. If there are any questions about this upgrade, please call our office at 248-674-2278. Fire Hydrant Flushing Waterford Township DPW will begin the fall round of fire hydrant flushing in the coming weeks; at this time DPW is not servicing all fire hydrants. Fire hydrant flushing is important to ensure water quality. Staff will be performing this work in the evenings after normal business hours over the next few weeks. The hydrant flushing process will stir up sediment in the water mains which can cause your water to appear brown, if this occurs run cold water in your bathtub or laundry tub to clear any sediment that has been stirred up. If you notice or hear of crews in your area performing this work, DPW recommends you avoid doing laundry until the crew is finished and you have verified that your water is running clear to prevent staining and/or hindering the performance of your washing machine. Water Quality Report Waterford Township DPW has released the 2020 Annual Water Quality Report. DPW prides itself on providing our customers with safe, quality drinking water and is proud to present our 22nd Drinking Water Quality Report. This report includes details regarding where our drinking water comes from, what it contains and how it compares to standards set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy. To view the report visit www.waterfordmi.gov/waterqualityreport or you can request a copy to be mailed by calling our office at 248-674-2278.
