Waterford Township Launches New Emergency Notification System

Waterford Township launches CivicReady, its new emergency notification system, January 1, 2016.  The new system allows Waterford Township officials and emergency personnel to create and rapidly disseminate time-sensitive messages to the community with phone calls, text messages, and emails.
CivicReady will also allow Township officials to send messages specifically targeted to geographic areas within Waterford which may be affected by a situation such as a water service interruption or a lost child or senior citizen.
Residents, businesses, visitors and those who work in the community are encouraged to log in to Waterford’s CivicReady website at www.waterfordmi.gov/emergency to complete a quick registration process. Community members will also have the option to receive non-emergency messages regarding community events, news, and other Township information. The Waterford CivicReady helpline at 248-618-6097 is available for those without Internet access or who require additional assistance.
“To ensure your contact information is included in the database, simply visit the website to sign up or call our helpline,” said Township Supervisor Gary Wall. “Be sure to include your physical address and your preferred method of contact to receive notices targeted to your neighborhood.”
CivicReady is a replacement for the Waterford Connect system the Township has been using. Waterford Connect will no longer be active as of January 1, 2016. Users who registered with Waterford Connect must now sign up with CivicReady to continue receiving both emergency and non-emergency notifications.
For an overview, sign-up instructions and a list of FAQs, please visit the Civic Ready information page at www.waterfordmi.gov/500/civic-ready
