July 13th update:
Both Priority Waste and our private contractor worked through Saturday to continue to catch up on delayed collection. Here's where we stand as of 5pm Saturday the 13th.
Trash routes have been completed and are back on schedule for on-time collection Monday. Remember, on time doesn't indicate a certain time of day. Stops aren't considered missed until after 7pm on your scheduled collection day.
Some customers who typically have Tuesday service may still be delayed for compost collection. Our contractor will be back at it Monday to finish those collections.
Some Thursday and Friday customers are also still delayed for recycling as Priority had some additional equipment issues on Saturday.
The next update will be posted on Monday, July 15th.
?If you've read these updates and believe that your trash, recycling, or compost were missed, please visit the Priority Waste website to submit a missed collection report. This form can be accessed 24/7 and helps get the missed stops into their system for faster routing. www.prioritywaste.com/support
July 11th update:
As many of you are aware, Waterford residents are currently experiencing delays in collection of curbside waste. Waterford
Township’s leadership and staff are working diligently with Priority Waste to address these delays and work on behalf of our community to ensure a quick return to on-time, complete, and professional service as soon as possible.
Please bear with us through this lengthy update that we hope will address your most timely and pressing questions.
On July 1st, Priority Waste assumed Waterford’s residential waste hauling contract as well as those in 72 other communities in Southeast Michigan. The transfer of these services from GFL to Priority Waste is a large undertaking, the shortcomings of which are impacting most of our neighboring municipal customer communities. In short, we’re not alone!
As of the morning of July 11th, Priority Waste collection routes in Waterford are running one day late for collection of trash and recycling – this means that customers who usually have Wednesday collection are expected to be collected today, Thursday, July 11th. Customers on Thursday and Friday may also be collected one day late for trash and recycling assuming delays continue at the same pace.
Yard waste/compost collection has been delayed for several weeks across Waterford. To address this, Waterford Township has contracted with a local company to focus solely on collecting yard waste from Waterford customers this week. With their help, Priority Waste should start next week with a “clean slate” that we expect will help significantly in getting us back on track.
As of the publication of this update, July 11th at 5:00pm:
Monday collection routes have had all three trash, recycling, and compost fully collected.
Tuesday routes have had trash and recycling collected, compost will be collected Friday.
Wednesday routes will have trash, recycling, & compost collected on Thursday into Friday morning.
Thursday routes will have trash, recycling, and compost collected on Friday.
Friday routes will have trash, recycling, and compost collected on Saturday.
Please note, this may change as we move through the week. Updates will be posted to the Township website and Facebook.
Please continue to place your waste at the curb by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day and leave it at the curb until it is collected by the hauler.
We are also aware that Priority's phone lines are experiencing extremely heavy call volumes and reaching them is difficult. We expect call volume to decrease and wait times to diminish in the near future. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to Waterford Township staff for assistance at any of these three numbers: 248-618-7408, 248-674-6201, 248-674-6252 or email supervisor@waterfordmi.gov. You can also submit a complaint online with Priority Waste at www.prioritywaste.com/support
As regular collection resumes, here are some items you should know with the transition from GFL to Priority Waste:

• Payments made before July 15th to GFL will be transferred to Priority Waste
