Annual Library Car Show August 3, 2019

Annual Car Show Fundraiser - August 3, 2019 - 6-8pm

Rain or shine - gear up for the Waterford Township Public Library's Car Show Fundraiser!  Join us for an evening of fabulous cars, delightful tunes and exciting raffles. Trophies awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place based on your votes.  A suggested donation of $10 to enter your car in the show collected at the event. Proceeds from the show will help us refurbish and/or replace well-worn furniture in the Children’s Room.  For more information, please call (248) 618-7678

Monthly Paper Recycling- Aug. 10th

Waterford Township offers free monthly recycling collection of magazines and cardboard (shipping boxes, cereal boxes, toothpaste boxes, etc, free of food debris and dry.)

Please note: this service is usually provided the first Saturday of every month from 9am to 1pm in the parking lot at Township Hall, however due to on-campus events in August and September, the monthly recycling date moves to the 2nd Saturday of the month. Bring your paper recycling August 10, 2019 and September 14, 2019.
Beginning January 2020, this service will be held on the second Saturday of every month.

The Waterford Township Board of Trustees has authorized the Clerk to post a Request for Proposal for consideration of a Single Residential Waste Hauler to provide services to Waterford Township.

Summer Reading Clubs end August 3 (all ages)
Ages 3-12 years: complete your reading records, pick out a book to keep, collect your passes and coupons for free items at local businesses, and enter your name into the summer reading drawing.
Teens (grades 6th through 12th): Deadline to log your minutes of reading is midnight August 3. A final raffle drawing will be held for participants who logged at least 100 minutes. Participants will have a chance to win for every for every 100 minutes they have logged.

  • 1st prize - $100 gift card for Amazon
  • 2nd Prize - $30 gift card for MJR Digital Cinema 16
  • 3rd Prize - $15 gift card for Dairy Queen

Adults: Two Grand Prizes will be drawn from the entries of books you have read in your reading. Deadline for submissions is 5:00 p.m. August 3. You must log at least 5 books to be eligible to win.

Local poet and teacher Glen Armstrong leads this monthly poetry-writing workshop. Bring paper and a pen/pencil, leave with a poem.
Waterford Writers Workshop
Meets 1st & 3rd Tuesdays, 6:30p - 8:30p in the Conference Room
The goal is to write, share, and develop works that make us feel; to celebrate the art of words; to provoke, evoke, and inspire; to write confidently. Each writer will have the opportunity to read their work to the group. Participants should bring at least five copies of their work (limit of 5 typewritten, double-spaced pages of fiction/non-fiction, poetry/prose, screen plays, etc.) for peer review and discussion. All copies will be returned to the writer with edits, constructive critiques, and suggestions by fellow group members. Participants must be 16 or older. Registration is not required.

In exchange for your helping hands we can promise you an educational experience working with this group of passionate gardeners. One order of business at the August meeting will be coordinating a field trip to Wildtype Native Plant Nursery in Mason, MI on their next open date, Friday, August 23. Janet Macunovich will be going there in August 23 to obtain the remainder of our rain garden perennials and invites others interested in natives to ride along or caravan with her. If there are enough people interested, we will ask the nursery owner if we can have a tour of the operation.

Summer Sundays in the Village

Summer Sundays in the Waterford Historical Village

The Waterford Historical Society presents Summer Sundays in the Village.  No hoopla, just history!  Spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon with us walking our Historic Village at your own pace.  Stuff a mattress or “wash” some clothes.  Pack a lunch and enjoy Fish Hatchery Park.  Free admission. 

Sundays: August 18 and September 15 from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.  We are located in Fish Hatchery Park at 4490 Hatchery Road in Waterford.  For more information please call 248-683-2697.

Holiday Operating Hours

Waterford Township Administrative Offices will be closed Monday, September 2, 2019 in observance of Labor Day. The Waterford Township Public Library will be closed Sunday and Monday September 1 & 2, 2019 as well.

Beginning Tuesday, September 3, 2019 Waterford Township Administrative Offices resume standard operating hours of 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday - Friday.
