This is a early literacy program for children ages Infant to 5 years. Come in and pick up a reading chart and book list from the Children's Department. Read to your child. For every 100 books that you read together, we will put your child's name on our "Wall of Fame" and they get to select a book to keep. When you have reached the 1,000-book milestone, you get a book bag.
Due to current health restrictions, when your child has reached a 100 book goal:
Call the children’s reference desk at (248) 618-7692 to let us know.
Librarian will record the date on our tracking chart.
Send the librarian on duty a picture of your child’s completed reading record, or a screen shot if you’re using the program app (links below).
Review the booklists posted below and pick out a book.
The librarian will pull the book for your child to be picked up at the front door (10AM-9PM Mon-Thur, 10-5PM Sat). We can give you another reading record if needed.
We will move your child’s card on the bulletin board.
For participants who have reached their 1,000 book goal, you will also receive a book bag and certificate that can be picked up with curbside service.
We would like to thank the Waterford Township Friends of the Library for being a major sponsor of all our programming. The 1000 Books Before Kindergarten name and logo are used with permission of the 1000 Books Foundation.
