Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption

Under the new laws which were passed in October of 2023, the Disabled Veterans Exemption Affidavit cannot be filed until January 1st of the exemption year and must be received by the December 31st. Once you file the application for 2025, the application “remains in effect, without subsequent reapplication until it is rescinded by the individual who was granted the exemption or is denied by the assessor” (MCL 211.7b(2)).
